Memorial Day Prayer

Memorial Day Prayer

Heavenly Father, yesterday, today, and tomorrow are all yours.  We thank you for giving us this beautiful opportunity today to honor the women and the men who’ve so bravely served this country in the past as well as in the present.

God we ask you to bless and strengthen those brave souls who selflessly gave of themselves without asking anything in return. We ask you to heal our wounded warriors who’ve returned home in pain after they gave their all for this great land. Bless them.

Holy Spirit restore their souls. Heal their bodies. Bring salvation to the lost.  God we ask you to bless the families of our military who stay behind while their loved one goes into harms way. Keep them safe and provide for their needs according to your abundance. And open the eyes of those of us who are not deployed to reach out to these families with love in solidarity.

Lord, we pray for a special blessing upon the families whose loved one gave their life for our country. Keep these families safe and bring comfort to their aching hearts.  Anoint our Chaplains and Pastors and others who bring the Word to our military. Bless their ministry and bring a great harvest of souls from their efforts.

We ask you to forgive the sins of this nation as well as the sins of our leaders. Have mercy on all Americans and bring us to a state of repentance. Have mercy on our friends, allies, and even the enemies of our nation. May each one come to know you. Point our hearts to you, for you alone are righteous and you alone are the hope of the world.

And finally, today we want to thank you for loving us so much that You that you gave your Son Jesus who willingly chose to die on a wooden cross to bear the sins of the world—paying the ultimate sacrifice for all of humanity. We don’t deserve love like this, and we can never repay it, but may each of us humbly accept it, and live joyfully in the freedom that it brings.

In the name of Jesus. Amen
