Pack a Shoebox and Share the Good News

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan's Purse, an international Christian relief and evangelism organization. The OCC mission is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world and to share the good news of Jesus Christ.

The MACC is the Anne Arundel County Central Drop-Off Location during National Collection Week (November 18–25). To provide ample time for packing, shoeboxes will be available for pick up starting Sunday, November 3. Please return all shoebox gifts to the MACC by Sunday, November 24. Below you will find opportunities to volunteer, tips for filling your shoebox gifts and information on how to pack a shoebox online.

Volunteer Opportunities

Anne Arundel County Central Drop-off Location

The MACC is Anne Arundel County’s Central Drop-Off. All boxes packed in the county will be brought to the MACC to be packed into trailers before being sent to the processing center. In addition to people willing to greet donors, bring shoeboxes in from vehicles and pack shoeboxes into cartons, we’ll need some heavy lifters to pack cartons in 32-foot long pup trailers. Please sign up at the link below to volunteer.

OCC Processing Center

While the MACC will not be organizing a trip to the OCC Processing Center this year, you still have the opportunity to serve and be the last person to touch and pray over a shoebox before it makes its way to its recipient! The Baltimore Area Processing Center is located at 7101 Troy Hill Drive, Eldridge, MD, this year. Please visit www.occvolunteersignup.com for more information on how to volunteer.

Build a Shoebox Online

Don’t think you have time to shop for a shoebox? You can still bring a smile to a child’s face and share the hope, joy and love of Christ through your shoebox gift and the Gospel message. With your help and prayerful giving, MACC can do so much more than ever imagined. Click the link below to build and give through the MACC’s goal page. Happy packing!

How to Pack a Shoebox

For more information on how to get started, check out this guide. Click the link below for a gift suggestion list broken down by age range and gender, and check out the video on what can and cannot be packed in your shoebox.

NOTE: Bar soap has become an item of increasing regulatory concern. At this time, all types of bar soap are acceptable to pack. It’s best to keep soap in original packaging with an expiration date of at least six months after National Collection Week. Homemade bar soap is discouraged. Please do not put any bar soap in plastic baggies, as this could lead to mold or mildew, rendering it unsafe to send.
